Why use this tool

  • Standard UTM parameters supported by every major analytics tool — GA4, Plausible, PostHog, Mixpanel, Matomo.
  • Save your last 5 tagged URLs locally for quick reuse.
  • Validates URL format before generating output.
  • Pure client-side — nothing leaves your browser, no campaign data leaks.

Frequently asked questions

What are the three required UTM parameters?

utm_source (where the traffic comes from), utm_medium (the channel type), and utm_campaign (the campaign name). Term and content are optional.

Should UTM values be lowercase?

Strongly recommended. UTM values are case-sensitive in analytics tools — "Email", "email", and "EMAIL" become three different sources. Standardize on lowercase with underscores.

Can I tag a URL that already has query parameters?

Yes — the tool merges UTM params into the existing query string and overwrites any pre-existing utm_* keys.

Where is my saved history stored?

In your browser's localStorage on this device only. It never syncs to a server and cannot be accessed by other sites.

What is UTM Builder?

A UTM Builder is a tool that constructs campaign-tagged URLs by appending UTM query parameters such as source, medium, and campaign for analytics platforms including Google Analytics, GA4, Plausible, and PostHog. It runs in the browser, validates the base URL, and saves the last five built URLs locally for reuse. It is used to track marketing campaign traffic.

Features

Standard UTM parameters

Appends utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign, utm_term, and utm_content — the fields analytics tools read.

URL validation

Checks the base URL is well-formed and merges parameters without clobbering existing query keys.

No campaign telemetry

Builds run client-side; your last five URLs are stored only in your browser.

Example

Input

https://example.com/page + source=newsletter, medium=email, campaign=spring_sale

Output

https://example.com/page?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=spring_sale

Common use cases

  1. 1

    Tag a newsletter link

Attribute email traffic with utm_source=newsletter and utm_medium=email in your analytics.

  2. 2

    Track ad & social campaigns

Distinguish paid, social, and referral traffic by campaign in GA4 or Plausible.

  3. 3

    Standardize team conventions

Build consistent, lower-case UTM tags so reports don't fragment across spellings.
