Frequently asked questions
How many elements are in the periodic table?
There are 118 confirmed elements, from hydrogen (1) to oganesson (118).
What do the colors mean?
Each color marks an element category — alkali metals, alkaline earth metals, transition metals, metalloids, nonmetals, halogens, noble gases, lanthanides, actinides, and so on. See the legend.
What is atomic mass?
The standard atomic weight (in unified atomic mass units, u) — the average mass of an atom of the element, weighted by isotope abundance. For unstable elements the value of the most stable isotope is shown.
Why are two rows separated at the bottom?
The lanthanides (57–71) and actinides (89–103) are the f-block; they are conventionally placed below the main table to keep it a manageable width.
What is Interactive Periodic Table?
An interactive periodic table displays all 118 chemical elements arranged by atomic number and group, colored by category, with atomic mass and other details available on click.
