Frequently asked questions

What is the compound interest formula?

A = P(1 + r/n)^(nt), where P is the principal, r the annual rate, n the compounding frequency, and t the number of years.

How are recurring deposits included?

Each deposit grows for the remaining periods: the future value of the deposit stream is added using FV = d·((1+i)ⁿ − 1)/i, with i = r/n.

What does compounding frequency change?

More frequent compounding (e.g. daily vs annually) earns slightly more, because interest is added — and itself earns interest — more often.

Is this financial advice?

No — it’s a calculator. Actual returns vary, and it ignores taxes, fees and inflation.

What is Compound Interest Calculator?
